Aadila Munshi

Aadila Munshi is a contemporary artist living in Toronto, Canada. She is known for her paintings of beautifully distressed urban surfaces and her elegant calligraphic forms. Her work is evocative, meaningful, and inspired by the collective human condition.
A former Criminologist from the University of Cape Town, Aadila was born in South Africa. Her experiences as a child of apartheid were marked by a sense of repressed voice. Today she paints to express voice with freedom.
Her latest series, titled ‘Inner Poetry’ spotlights her signature handstyle found in personal sketchbooks over the years. Each painting in the series is an eloquent manifestation of the artist’s inner reflections, femininity, fortitude and passion for writing.
She has been painting for over 25 years and her work is in corporate and private collections worldwide. Recently she completed a corporate commission of two over-sized pieces, measuring 14ftx8ft each. These pieces are permanently installed and can be viewed in the condo lobby of The Lighthouse East Tower in Toronto.
