Nicole Schultz

Artist_Nicole.jpg

Nicole Schultz is a graduate of Western University's Fine Arts Honours Program, with a specialization in Studio Art and Painting, and also holds a BA Ed. Degree. A full-time artist and business owner, Nicole works in Acrylic and Mixed Media on wood, with a signature minimalist aesthetic that connects all of her work. Whether in bold hard edge paintings that become framed sculptural wall constructions or wood relief, Nicole's work channels emotion, dreams and mysticism with a sharp clean style that is recognizably hers.

Nicole's work is in private and public collections across the globe, and most notable recognized for her Fractured Framework that challenges the conventions of the framing industry to showcase her craftsmanship and love of both the framing and painting mediums. Nicole's Fractured Frame series interrupts framing's tradition in art history - fusing art and frame together in an inseparable sculptural form to release the painting's geometry and energy. Nicole hand cuts and assembles these frames specific to each piece after the work is created - in response to each painting. Whether in dramatic shrapnel like explosions of off cuts, or minimal simplistic openings, each piece tells it's own story of rupture or healing - coming together or a breaking away. Breathing in, or breathing out.
